If you follow me on Snapchat or Instagram {@Arshia_makeup}, you may have seen that I recently got gel nail extensions! I wanted to give you guys a quick run down of what gel nails are, price, and my personal opinions so here we go!
Initial cost: $65
Refills: $35
Longevity: 2 weeks
Breakage/Chipping: None
I have had gel nails done multiple times but I always had it done on my original nails. This time around, I wanted my nails to be a bit longer so I went in and got nail extensions with my gel. I initially wanted to get gel extensions but my manicurist suggested to get fake tips instead as they last longer and don’t break easily so that is what I did. The process is fairly simple:
1) Buff your actual nail (I hate this part!)
2) Apply fake nail tips
3) Buff and blend fake tips to real nails (Again, hate this part!)
4) Add clear gel
5) Finish with color gel
The first round of gel nails I got was a gorgeous taupe/nude color which I loved so much but the actual length of the nails was way too long! I hated the way my long nails got in the middle of everything I did (wear contacts, button a shirt etc.) so I definitely knew that I wanted to go shorter for the second round. I am SO happy with the way my pink nails look as they are short and so comfortable.
Next time around, I will be removing the fake tips because I can see my real nails are super long underneath the tips! I also plan on giving my nails a break from gel after the third round as I hear it is best to let you real nails breathe a bit!
